§ Accessibility Statement:
U.S. Code Section 508
This site is compliant with the U.S. Government's Section 508 guidelines. Some aspects of these guidelines require judgement calls. If we have missed the mark, notify us and we'll correct the oversight.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0
This site is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. Some aspects of these guidelines require judgement calls. If we have missed the mark, notify us and we'll correct the oversight.
Access Keys
Access keys have been provided as an aid to navigation. They are:
- access key 1: SAALCK home page
- access key 2: Skip to Navigation
- access key 4: Search
- access key 9: Contact Us
- access key 0: Accessibility statement
With Internet Explorer 5+, alt+access key and enter will execute the link. With Netscape 6.2+, alt+access key is enough. On a Mac, substitute control for alt.
The access key is identified in the link's title attribute (which will appear on a mouse over).
Structured Semantic Markup
This site uses structured semantic markup. All tags provide information about the content. This allows various devices to access these pages in a meaningful way and, for example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the next section by pressing alt+insert+3.
Alternate Styles
Alternate style sheets are provided to allow the user to select a layout that works best for their situation. In this page's menu, select an option under Presentation.
Fonts
All fonts have been relatively sized to allow browsers lacking the "text-zoom" function the ability to resize fonts.
Graphics
The use of graphics has been minimized and no graphics are used to create roll-over menus. "alt" attributes are always used on all graphics on the page. (Image replacement techniques have been used so that structurally marked up text replaces graphics in the ADA style.)
Valid XHTML 1.1 Strict
XHTML has been used for maximum interoperability and no presentational tags have been used to maximize bandwidth. All pages have been validated to ensure error-free pages that work with various alternative browsing devices.
Valid CSS2
All style and layout commands are contained in validated CSS files.
